In no particular order, here are my thoughts…

💡 Principle 1: values are one of the most powerful tools when building a company from scratch
</aside>
- Values are the behaviours & ways of working which those within your business should buy into and adhere to. One way of looking at it, is being a fit with your People, Product & Process
- If you look at institutions, like big banks, they were often built 100s of years ago on the bedrock of strong values e.g. being family run businesses. However, as time as gone on these values get eroded. New values take their place. The magic about building a company from scratch is the ability to create values from scratch and hold the team accountable to them
- Importantly, however, the concept of “values” is often seen as vague and hard to understand. It’s important to agree on a joint definition…or simplify e.g. they are “things” - link

💡 Principle 2: Mission & Vision; giving people a purpose beyond making money which get them excited
</aside>
- I am often confused by “Mission” & “Vision”; what really is the difference and how do you articulate it
- It doesn’t matter so much though - Mission & Vision really relates to the big ambition and goals of the company. It gives those people within and around the company a feeling of being part of something bigger, something exciting, even a sense of belonging
