In no particular order, here are my thoughts…
<aside>
💡 Principle 1: the work week is at least 5/7 days of your life. Do something meaningful
</aside>
- Don’t settle for something which you’re not super excited about - it’s a waste of your time
<aside>
💡 Principle 2: work is a vehicle to be able to have new experiences, meet new people and understand new perspectives
</aside>
- As we grow older, the circle of people around us gets smaller and smaller - we meet fewer and fewer new people as time goes on
- Work is one of those rare places where we are able to do this. Meeting new people can give you a new perspective and the ability to see things in a completely different way
- Similarly, being able to work in other countries or indeed with people from other walks of life, allows you to immerse yourself into a place, a culture and a way of thinking. It allows you to do this in a way you often cannot by just “visiting” or “seeing” something

💡 Principle 3: the beauty is when work & life become one and the same, because you work with amazing people and are doing something meaningful
</aside>
- If you surround yourself with amazing people you like, learn from and who are working towards the same goal it’s fun. It gives you energy. It’s the thing you talk about when you go to the pub on the weekend
- In the same vain, have the freedom to work in the way you want to - at home, in the office, abroad…it doesn’t matter. So long as you take a long term perspective on making it enjoyable

💡 Principle 4: the more you earn the more you spend, the less you earn the less you spend
</aside>
- So…aim for fulfilment in areas beyond money 💸
<aside>
💡 Principle 5: it is not possible to do everything in life (family, friends, health, work) at the same time to the fullest. Choose two and do them really well. And the ones you’re not doing well…make sure they know why, and when they will get your full time and attention
